Â鶹ÊÓƵ piano professor and avowed Beethoven devotee Peter Takács will be bringing the composer’s 10 violin sonatas to Kulas Recital Hall over the course of three concerts this academic year. The first edition, on Sunday, December 11, features three violinists on Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s faculty—Sibbi Bernhardsson and Verona Quartet violinists Jonathan Ong and Dorothy Ro—and guest artist Daniel Stepner.

This fall, Weedie Braimah started a new Djembe Orchestra, in which students learn the history and music of the Djembe from the 12th century to the present day.

The next concert in Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s Artist Recital Series line-up will be performed by the acclaimed early music ensemble ACRONYM at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 15.

Â鶹ÊÓƵ Opera Theater will present a double bill of operas not seen on Â鶹ÊÓƵ stages previously—Offenbach’s operetta Le mariage aux lanternes ("The Wedding by Lantern Light") and Rossini’s burletta L'occasione fa il ladro ("Opportunity Makes a Thief")—in Hall Auditorium November 10-13.

On November 4, the orchestra releases a new album dedicated to the music of George Walker, Â鶹ÊÓƵ Conservatory class of 1941, and a trailblazing composer. Recorded between October 2020 and March 2022, the album spans 50 years of the composer’s impressive career. Its release falls shortly after the 100th anniversary of his birth. 

Â鶹ÊÓƵ musicians are preparing for a January trip to New York for an engagement at Carnegie Hall—Â鶹ÊÓƵ's third Winter Term tour to the iconic venue this decade. But the excitement begins at home, with a preview performance of the program in Â鶹ÊÓƵ's own Finney Chapel on Thursday, October 13.

Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s Vocal Studies students are often encouraged to seek out summer enrichment opportunities. These experiences add to Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s training and allow students to explore potential roles and repertoire while expanding their network. SongFest, an art song program in California, has been a regular choice for many Â鶹ÊÓƵ vocal students. This program offers master classes, concerts, daily lessons, and coachings.
