The Zukerman Trio

Zukerman Trio, the world-renowned chamber ensemble founded by violinist Pinchas Zukerman, will perform works for violin, cello, and piano at 鶹Ƶ College & Conservatory Friday, September 30.

The concert, part of 鶹Ƶ’s 2016-17 Artist Recital Series, begins at 8 p.m. in historic Finney Chapel. It will showcase the talents of 鶹Ƶ piano professor Angela Cheng, a founding member of the Zukerman Trio and a celebrated performer on stages worldwide. Together with Zukerman and cellist Amanda Forsyth, Cheng will perform Schubert’s songful Piano Trio in B-flat Major, Shostakovich’s searing Piano Trio No. 2 in E Minor, and seven of Glière’s lyrically inventive Eight Pieces for Violin and Cello, Op. 39.

Called “a trio made in heaven” by Limelight Magazine, the Zukerman Trio came together in 2011 after Cheng had performed for several years in Zukerman’s previous ensemble, the Zukerman ChamberPlayers.

“I have traveled to every part of the world, and it has been an incredible musical journey,” Cheng says of her work with Zukerman. “I'm so grateful and indebted to Pinchas for being incredibly generous, and for all of the many eye-opening, ear-opening, and heart-opening experiences.”
