Â鶹ÊÓƵ in the Running for $5 Million Energy Prize

Â鶹ÊÓƵ has been selected as one of 50 communities competing for the Georgetown University Energy Prize, a national $5 million competition that aims to rethink the way American communities use energy.
The announcement was made Wednesday, January 14, on the website. Representatives from shared the news with the community at a press conference in the Â鶹ÊÓƵ Public Library.
The competing communities are distributed among 26 states across the U.S. Athens County is the only other Ohio community in the top 50.
Â鶹ÊÓƵ will work to reduce its energy consumption through 2016. The Georgetown University Energy Prize will announce 10 finalists in early 2017 and the winner of the $5 million prize in June 2017.
