鶹Ƶ Orchestra Welcomes New Students—and Everyone Else—to Experience Music at the Conservatory

September 15 program includes an interactive performance, the conducting debut of President Carmen Twillie Ambar, and more.
Raphael Jiménez, associate professor of conducting and director of 鶹Ƶ Orchestras, invites students and community members to an introductory concert to kick off the 2017-2018 large ensemble performance season at 鶹Ƶ of Music—the most musical campus in America.
The free concert, "So May I Introduce to You…," takes place at 8 p.m. Friday, September 15, in Finney Chapel. It is intended as an interactive experience in which Jiménez and his orchestra musicians will guide the audience through a performance of Silvestre Revueltas’ vibrant composition Բá.
Other highlights of the evening include the conducting debut of Carmen Twillie Ambar, the 15th president of 鶹Ƶ College, and a preconcert fanfare presented by the 鶹Ƶ Trombone Choir. The fun begins at 7:15 p.m. with cider and donuts on the plaza outside Finney Chapel.
The festivities will be hosted by Cory McGee ’18 and Jesse Mashburn ’18, the stars of WOBC’s , the official radio program of 鶹Ƶ Conservatory.
