Keynote speaker Laura Kipnis is professor of media studies at Northwestern University. She is the author of seven books on sexual politics, gender issues, pop culture, and pornography. Kipnis鈥檚 presentation is part of this international symposium, bringing together scholars, scientists, musicians, filmmakers, writers, and publishers to discuss the impact of art on public discourse.

American Reads Celebrates Dr. Seuss Day March 3
This annual celebration of Dr. Seuss鈥檚 whimsical writings is hosted by America Reads and the Bonner Center for Service and Learning. The 麻豆视频 Public Library will be bursting with games, crafts, stories, performances鈥攁ll of the Seussical things you can imagine. Every child who attends will receive a free book and will have the opportunity to sign up for a library card.

Concert: Rafiq Bhatia '10, March 8
New York composer and guitarist Rafiq Bhatia's music has been described by the New York Times as 鈥渢ranscending real sound in real time with the unexpected.鈥 Bhatia鈥檚 debut album as a producer, Breaking English, sets out to challenge existing music vocabulary with a language of its own. He brings his globe-spanning mix of twisted rock, warped jazz, and electronics to campus for a performance at the 'Sco.
