Annual Â鶹ÊÓƵ Community Giving Campaign Now Under Way

November 6, 2015

Lisa Gulasy

Every year Â鶹ÊÓƵ College, Â鶹ÊÓƵ City Schools, and the city of Â鶹ÊÓƵ work together to raise funds for four organizations that provide a variety of services in Â鶹ÊÓƵ and nearby communities. The Â鶹ÊÓƵ community’s commitment to social justice is made possible by community members’ generous charitable giving, which help to sustain families in difficult circumstances.

This year, President Marvin Krislov, Â鶹ÊÓƵ City Schools Superintendent David Hall, and City Manager Eric Norenberg, along with the Office of Community and Government Relations, have selected Â鶹ÊÓƵ Community Services, the Â鶹ÊÓƵ Early Childhood Center, the United Way of Greater Lorain County, and Greater Cleveland Community as recipients of campaign funds.

Information about these organizations can be found below. Visit the provided links to learn more about the organizations, their constituents, and ways to get involved.

Â鶹ÊÓƵ Community Services

is a responsive community organization that provides support and emergency assistance to people in need from Â鶹ÊÓƵ and nearby communities. While its mission has not changed, the organization is looking for new and creative ways to end poverty in the community. Last year, Â鶹ÊÓƵ Community Services saw a 41 percent increase in the number of households served, a 61 percent increase in seniors, and a 33 percent increase in new clients. It has engaged the community and partners alike in planning efforts and is Planting Seeds for Economic Growth and Sustainability in the community.

Â鶹ÊÓƵ Early Childhood Center

is a nationally accredited, two star-rated early care and education program that provides comprehensive childcare services to community members of all income levels and nurtures the healthy growth of young children and their families.

United Way of Greater Lorain County

contributes to a strong, supportive community by raising and distributing funds to provide basic needs, nurture children and youth, and strengthen families. It strives to establish partnerships that focus on collaborative problem solving, high accountability standards, and resource development.

Greater Cleveland Community Shares

is Cleveland’s only workplace giving federation with a focus on social justice and the second largest of its kind in the country. Community Shares generates essential operating funds for nonprofit organizations that are working for positive community change.

Community members are encouraged to contribute generously to these organizations by completing the pledge form found on this webpage. The pledge form provides options for payroll deduction and one-time gifts. You are welcome to designate which of the four organizations will receive your gift. Completed pledge forms should be returned to the Department of Human Resources no later than December 15, 2015. You may return your form in person or scan and email your form.

Throughout its history, the Â鶹ÊÓƵ community has consistently demonstrated its caring and concern for others through concrete actions. In 2014, the community raised $49,214 for organizations chosen as recipients for the year’s giving campaign. With your help, we can make this a banner year for the Â鶹ÊÓƵ Community Giving Campaign.
