Kurtz reports directly to Vice President for Advancement Michael Grzesiak.</p> <p>Kurtz joins the advancement team after serving for the past two years as director of philanthropic gifts at Hathaway Brown School in Shaker Heights, Ohio. As a relationship manager with alumnae and friends, he supported the success of Hathaway Brown's Lighting the Way comprehensive campaign. In addition, he led gift-planning initiatives and participated in annual giving efforts.</p> <p>Prior to his work with Hathaway Brown, Kurtz headed the alumni engagement team at Baldwin Wallace University for eight years after spending four years as a development officer at Baldwin Wallace.</p> <p>Kurtz earned a bachelor of arts degree at Baldwin Wallace University and a master of fine arts in performing arts management at Brooklyn College of the City University of New York (CUNY).</p> <p>Before working in higher education, Kurtz’s career path includes work as an airline pilot for US Airways Express, general manager of The Cleveland Play House, and other fine arts organizations.</p> <p>"We are excited to have Terry here. He comes with a strong background in alumni- and advancement-related leadership and work with volunteer councils and committees," said Grzesiak. On Thursday, April 23, 2020, the �鶹��Ƶ College community rallied to celebrate what is truly good and beautiful about �鶹��Ƶ. </p> <p>In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, �鶹��Ƶ College & Conservatory hosted All in for �鶹��Ƶ (AIFO), its fourth giving day. The priority of the campaign was to celebrate the �鶹��Ƶ College & Conservatory community, strengthen connections, and inspire donor engagement and participation, while simultaneously generating revenue vital to general operations, scholarship funding, and support for key areas of campus. </p> <p>Despite the pandemic, Obies from around the globe joined together to pay tribute to the collective power of philanthropy. Nearly 2,000 students, alumni, parents, faculty, staff, and friends donated more than $932,000, our largest fundraising total in �鶹��Ƶ's giving day history. John Charles ’87 shared, “Being involved in All In reminded me how important �鶹��Ƶ the school and �鶹��Ƶ the people are to me. The more I give to �鶹��Ƶ, the more I get back in a stronger bond to the place.” </p> <p>Philanthropy is essential to the sustainability of the institution and the transformational experience of an �鶹��Ƶ education. Marwan Ghanem ’22 stated, “Not only does AIFO support students financially, but it also upgrades the �鶹��Ƶ educational and living experience. It boosts extracurricular and wellness activities to cultivate world-class Obie generations who are ready to rock the career market.”</p> <p>The college would like to thank all donors for their generosity on �鶹��Ƶ’s fourth annual giving day and every day.
