Adams, an American composer whose music is inspired by nature, composed <em>Sila</em> as an outdoor work for 16 to 80 or more musicians. Watanabe’s visit to Â鶹ÊÓƵ was part of a larger series of events that celebrated the hope for international peace on the 70th anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, Japan. As part of the celebration, Watanabe gifted Â鶹ÊÓƵ a ginkgo tree sapling grown from trees that survived the bombing. The city of Â鶹ÊÓƵ celebrates Juneteenth each year with its Juneteenth Festival. This year’s festival, themed Looking Back to Look Forward: Come Home to Â鶹ÊÓƵ, took place Saturday, June 13, in Tappan Square.
